Community

CommunitySupporting the communities where we live and work is one of AOIC’s core values. AOIC is a proud supporter of numerous community organizations, engaging its team, family, and friends to support and volunteer in a most meaningful way.

The team is especially committed to addressing poverty, basic human needs, and education. AOIC’s President and CEO, Tom Burke, has been a strong supporter of Life Science Cares (LSC) in Philadelphia. LSC builds upon the resources of the life science community to support organizations that fight poverty in our neighborhoods.

In 2025, AOIC held its first annual day of service with some of the team volunteering together at Broad Street Love (BSL), an organization that practices “radical hospitality,” welcoming people in a way that goes above and beyond expectations and provides stabilizing services for those experiencing deep poverty. Those who volunteered with BSL helped serve lunch, restaurant-style, for almost 300 people.

AOIC also has ongoing collaborations with numerous organizations like Life Sciences Pennsylvania, CIC Philadelphia, and the Chester County Economic Development Council (CCEDC). Tom was recently appointed Chair of the Board for the Ideas x Innovation Network (i2n), an initiative of the CCEDC. i2n helps strengthen collaboration among entrepreneurs, investors, and industry partners so startups have the strategic support, capital access, and community connections they need to grow and thrive in southeastern Pennsylvania. Tom believes that innovation flourishes when diverse stakeholders come together around a shared vision.

Engaging with a broad range of organizations to help amplify resources, mentorship, and opportunities for our communities is profoundly meaningful to the whole AOIC team.
