Thomas J. Burke
President & CEO

Thomas J. Burke, President & CEO of AOIC, LLC, has 25 years of medical and scientific communications experience in oncology, hematology, supportive care, and related businesses. He has experience with US and global oncology launches of drug therapies for solid and hematologic malignancies, and also has more than 19 years of experience serving the communication needs of nonprofit organizations.

Tom has led AOIC since 2005. Under his leadership, AOIC has delivered hundreds of publications and Congress submissions in various therapeutic areas and health economics and outcomes research. AOIC has also continued its strength in peer-to-peer communications, meetings, and patient communications.

Tom received his MBA from Drexel University’s LeBow College of Business and a BS in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University. He is active in his community and serves in board leadership roles for a number of for-profit and nonprofit organizations.

Tammy L. Dempsey
Vice President, Client & Creative Services

Tammy is the Vice President, Client & Creative Services for AOIC, LLC, with the overall responsibility for the quality and timely execution of all customer deliverables. Tammy has more than 25 years of experience working with US and global biopharmaceutical companies, nonprofit organizations, and medical device. She has extensive implementation expertise in medical and scientific communications and publications platforms including both content development and operational expertise.

As the Vice President, Client & Creative Services for AOIC, Tammy manages a team focused on delivering solutions, providing value for partners, and helping clients deliver timely and accurate information. Tammy is recognized for her attention to detail, problem-solving, creative solutions, and honest and forthright approach.

Tammy received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, a minor in Marketing, and a specialization in International Business, from Drexel University's LeBow College of Business.

Mark A. Altieri
Vice President, Finance & Technology

Mark A. Altieri, Vice President of Finance & Technology has over 25 years of experience managing finance/accounting, information technology, and back- office operations. Mark has led both IT and Accounting teams in the execution of projects focused on excellence and client service.

Mark joined AOIC in 2008 and has held several positions with the company leading to his current role. He is skilled at the discovery and application of new technology for AOIC’s medical and scientific communication clients.

Mark received his BS in Accounting from Rutgers University.

Sarah Hummasti, PhD, CMPP
Vice President, Scientific Strategy and Services

Sarah received her PhD in molecular biology from the University of California, Los Angeles after receiving her BA degree in biology from Reed College in Portland, OR. She went on to complete a post-doctoral fellowship at Harvard University in Boston, MA. In her more than 10 years of research experience, Sarah’s work focused on the role of nuclear receptors, inflammatory signaling, and endoplasmic reticulum stress in obesity, diabetes, and other metabolic diseases.

For the past 10 years, Sarah has used her passion for translating science into easy-to-understand results by working closely with biopharma clients to create clear and concise scientific communications strategies and deliverables. Her work has included preparation of scientific manuscripts and reviews, advisory board materials and executive reports, and presentations for conferences and peer-to-peer speaker programs. She’s often asked to analyze and interpret scientific data and literature in a broad range of therapeutic areas to understand how to put the current data into the context of the current treatment landscape and to highlight the impact to patient care.

Sarah is a Certified Medical Publications Professional (CMPP), and, as the Vice President, Scientific Strategy and Services at AOIC, she is responsible for ensuring the overall scientific integrity and editorial quality of scientific content.

Michelle DiMichele
Account Director

As Account Director for AOIC, Michelle utilizes her 18-plus years of client services and project management experience, along with her strong work ethic and attention-to-detail, to deliver exceptional programs for clients.

Since joining AOIC in 2005, she has held a variety of client service and account management roles. Michelle’s experience in project management, CME development, and meeting planning helps her to provide excellence in all client deliverables. Michelle has also worked tirelessly with community outreach initiatives and served on several nonprofit boards.
